MAHEK

It was Dr. Asha Kapadia's dream to create a support group for breast cancer patient and she made this dream realized and 'MAHEK' was founded on 16th February 2003.

Mahek means fragrance - soft and gentle, which spreads around and fills the atmosphere.  That is exactly the aim of this support group - to bring persistent gentle joy forever, to empower women with confidence, talents and knowledge.

On 16th February 2003 was our first function where group was christened by the name of "Mahek". There are various emotions, that a woman go through during her treatment with cancer; that needed to be shared with someone, who would care and who could understand and

Dr. Asha Kapadia paved way for all to ventilate your feelings through MAHEK, and to make it more convenient these support groups are arranged in the vicinity of your residences. But amazingly they are arranged and organized majorly by one of you.

To spread and create awareness :

By gathering a group and talking about cancer, its diagnosis and life after that.

By teaching self breast examination to neighbours, friends, relatives and others.

By conducting educational activities like conferences on breast cancer with associated conditions like menopause, osteoporosis on Cancer Awareness Day, Women’s Day, Menopause Day, etc.

To empower and support our fellow patients:
                                                             
By meeting each other frequently    and learning something new
By calling up each other and supporting and sharing
By teaching some activity to other patients
