Our School of Nursing is committed to offering an excellent
diploma in Nursing programme designed to prepare students
to take their places as well educated, sought after
health professionals. Established in 1981, the School
offers a 3 year diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
to female candidates.
Accreditation
The school is recognized by the Maharashtra Nursing
Council and the Indian Nursing Council. It's also the
first Institution in Nursing education to have received
the ISO 9002 Certification.
Course Description
The subjects taught at the school are in keeping with
the syllabus prescribed by the Maharashtra Nursing Council.
The school curriculum offers the following:-
First Year:
Fundamentals of Nursing: Basic Nursing, Medical-
Surgical Nursing and Paediatric Nursing.
Basic Sciences- Anatomy & Physiology, Physics, Chemistry
and Microbiology
Community Health Nursing I: Nutrition, Hygiene,
Health Education &Communication Skills
Behavioural Sciences - Psychology and Sociology
Languages- Hindi, English and Marathi
Second Year:
Medical Surgical Nursing I (including Pharmacology)
Medical Surgical Nursing II (Including Gynaecology,
ENT, Eye Orthopaedic Communicable Disease Nursing.)
Psychiatric Nursing & Mental Health
Pediatric Nursing
Advanced Nursing
Third year:
Midwifery
Community Health Nursing II
Management in Nursing
Professional trends
The Education involves Classroom teaching as well as
supervised clinical practice in Hospital and Community.
Clinical Experience
The Educational Program is greatly enhanced by the comprehensive
and supervised practical experience the students receive
in a variety of settings.
Apart from Hinduja Hospital, the students have access
to practice in N.W. Maternity Hospital, Bai Jerbai Wadia
Hospital for children, Tata Memorial Hospital, Kasturba
Hospital for infectious diseases, L.T.M.G Hospital Sion,
Urban Community Health Centre, Dharavi, Rural Community
Health Centre, Parol Village.
Faculty- Staff
The School of Nursing Faculty strive toward excellence
in teaching and service to the Hospital and the Community.
They are the school's major asset in it's mission to
provide excellent nursing education in a positive, stimulating
and intellectually rigorous environment.
Most of the faculty are post- graduates with additional
qualifications in education and management, as well
as clinical expertise in areas like critical care, midwifery
and pediatrics.
