Dr Sanjay Agarwala is one of the few doctors in India
who performs microdiscectomy and laser assisted discectomy
for slipped disc which allows for very early rehabilitation
for the patient, total joint replacements and complex
trauma & Reimplantation procedures like re-attachment
of severed limb and limb parts.
Due to his renowned accomplishments in the field of
orthopedic surgery in the national and international
arena his name is Listed in the "Marquis Who's
Who In The World", 1998 - 2000 Edition & in
the "Asia/Pacific- Who's Who" volume 1999
. He was invited to join the P.D.Hinduja National Hospital
by the Management of the hospital to help co-ordinate
and develop the orthopaedic services in the hospital.
At Hinduja hospital he independently runs his own orthopaedic
unit. His acting chairmanship of the orthopedic and
traumatology services was formalized and he was designated
Head - Orthopedics & Traumatology Services from
October, 1992. In 1998 Dr Agarwala was designated the
Chief of Surgery head of all the surgical departments.
As the Chief of Surgery he liaisons
with all departments and thus keeps the hospital abreast
with the latest techniques and instrumentation, which
are necessary to provide international class facilities.

Every
year Dr Agarwala performs an average of 700 operative
cases which include esoteric surgery such as Total
Joint Replacements of the hips and knees, arthoscopic
surgery of the knee,
complex fracture fixation using the Swiss AO techniques
and reimplantation and micro surgical work for
limb salvage and restitution. Being conversant
with the use of the surgical microscope Dr. Agarwala
has initiated the programme of offering Micro
Lumbar Discectomy for selected cases.
Since 1995 he had evolved a programme on the Holmium
Laser machine, the first, as such, in the country.
This machine is being augmented for our minimally
invasive surgical work both for the arthroscopy
and spinal work. |

Agarwala's main areas of interest are therefore
specialised trauma including hand surgery and
reimplantation work, total knee and hip joint
replacements and minimally invasive surgical techniques
including microdiscectomy and the Holmium Laser,
in
all of which he has gained wide experience and
impressive numbers.
