Be Monsoon Ready!

Dear Mumbaikar's,

Monsoon is here to bring the much- awaited relief from the long spell of hot and humid weather. The refreshing showers not only soothe the soul but also recharge mother earth with much needed water. While the environment comes to life, high humidity and optimum temperature provide a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other microbes, in turn causing havoc to health. These health maladies are avoidable. Read on, take small precautions and enjoy the monsoons.

Monsoon maladies can be of two types, either Water Borne namely Typhoid fever, Diarrhea & Hepatitis A & E or Vector Borne explicitly Malaria, Dengue, Leptospirosis and Chikungunya.

Prevent yourselves from these detrimental diseases with these simple measures:

Insect/Pest Control

  • To avoid infestation of mosquitoes, avoid stagnation and accumulation of water / sewage / garbage near your surroundings.
    • Remove standing water in items that might hold water including wheel barrows, tires, toys, garden equipment, pool covers, tarps, plastic sheeting, pipes, drains, boats, canoes, recycling bins and trash flower pots, plant saucers, puddles, buckets, jars and cans.
    • Use Insecticide sprays, repellants, creams, mosquito nets and malathion fogging to avoid development of mosquitoes and exposure to mosquito bites.
  • Avoid mosquitoes by :-
    • Staying indoors at dawn and dusk when they are most active.
    • Wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants while outdoors.
    • Application of insect repellent. Follow directions carefully, mentioned in the product.
