Neuro Rehabilitation Center
Neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury can significantly affect movement, balance, speech, swallowing and memory. Even after medical or surgical treatment is complete, many patients require specialised rehabilitation to regain independence. Early and structured neuro rehabilitation is essential for improving recovery and reducing long term disability.
The Neuro Rehabilitation Centre is a dedicated in-patient facility focused exclusively on neurological recovery. Rehabilitation at P. D. Hinduja Hospital is supervised by a Neuro Rehabilitation Physician and delivered by a multidisciplinary team comprising physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and swallow therapists and cognitive rehabilitation specialists.
Neuro rehabilitation is recommended for individuals who:
- Require rehabilitation following stroke, brain injury or spinal cord injury
- Are recovering after brain or spinal tumour surgery
- Are living with neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis or Guillain-Barré Syndrome
- Have weakness or mobility limitations after prolonged hospitalisation
- Experience difficulty with balance, coordination or walking
- Have speech, swallowing or cognitive challenges after neurological illness
- Need early rehabilitation soon after hospital discharge
Physician Led Neuro Rehabilitation
Individualised rehabilitation plans are developed and supervised by a Neuro Rehabilitation Physician with expertise in managing the complex functional impact of neurological conditions.
Timely Intervention
Rehabilitation is initiated at the earliest medically appropriate stage to reduce complications and support improved long term outcomes.
Technology Integrated Therapy
Advanced robotic and technology assisted systems enhance therapy precision and measurable progress. International systems such as LOKOMAT, AMADEO, DIEGO and TYMO support gait retraining, upper limb recovery, balance and trunk control.
Rehabilitation Focused Infrastructure
The Centre is designed to promote safety, mobility and patient confidence, enabling structured in patient rehabilitation.
Management of Complex Needs
Specialised care is available for patients requiring tracheostomy management, tube feeding support or assistance with significant functional dependency.
The Centre follows a structured, patient centred multidisciplinary model where the patient remains at the core of care. Each specialist contributes expertise to ensure comprehensive neurological recovery.
Neuro Rehabilitation Physician
Provides medical leadership, formulates the rehabilitation strategy and monitors clinical safety and progress.
Physiotherapist
Focuses on mobility, strength, balance, coordination and gait retraining.
Occupational Therapist
Works on restoring upper limb function and improving independence in daily activities.
Rehabilitation Nurse
Provides continuous medical support and assists with functional training and complex care requirements.
Clinical Psychologist
Addresses emotional wellbeing, behavioural adjustment and cognitive recovery.
This integrated model ensures that physical recovery, cognitive function and emotional health are addressed simultaneously through coordinated goal setting and continuous progress review.
The goal of the Centre is to improve functional independence, enhance safety and support a confident return to daily activities.
Initial Comprehensive Consultation
A detailed evaluation is conducted to assess medical history, current limitations and recovery goals.
Personalised Rehabilitation Plan
A structured, goal based program is developed, integrating multiple disciplines to optimise functional improvement.
Coordinated Therapy Delivery
Therapies are delivered in a synchronised manner under physician supervision to maximise outcomes.
Continuous Monitoring and Review
Medical oversight ensures safe progression of therapy. Plans are regularly reviewed and refined based on measurable progress.
The Neuro Rehabilitation Centre integrates advanced technology within a thoughtfully designed rehabilitation environment to support structured and measurable neurological recovery.
International robotic systems including Lokomat, Armeo Amadeo and Armeo Diego enable precise, task oriented therapy across different stages of recovery. These systems support robotic assisted gait training with body weight support, upper limb and hand rehabilitation and data driven progress tracking to ensure measurable improvement.
The newly inaugurated rehabilitation wing has been designed as a space where healing takes its first steps and is positioned between surgery and recovery. The layout supports patients as they gradually return to movement, balance, speech and independence, allowing therapy to follow a natural and intuitive progression from early assisted movement to gait training, balance work, activities of daily living and speech therapy.
Equipment and therapy zones are arranged to ensure smooth transitions between stages of rehabilitation, supporting both physical recovery and confidence building. The open rehabilitation gym enables visual connection between patients, fostering quiet motivation through shared progress.
Natural light, soft curves, calm colours and clear movement pathways create an environment that feels reassuring and easy to navigate. Acoustically treated spaces and thoughtfully integrated sound support clarity and focus during therapy.
Together, the integration of advanced rehabilitation technology and purpose built infrastructure creates a setting that supports healing, dignity and confident recovery.
